How to apply a Top-up to a subscription

This article provides instructions for a subscriber to locate top-ups in Connect, apply a top-up to a subscription, and how to use the “Add Data” card. A video tutorial is included for applying a Top-up from the Dashboard, and instructions are given for canceling a Top-up for all projects.

A top-up is a common add-on that allows a subscriber to add credit to a mobile subscription so that they can make calls, text or access the internet in additional quantities beyond what is defined in a plan. Top-ups are defined with and specific to a service provider.

How it Works

Your customers can self-serve to upgrade their plan or select from a choice of data top-ups at any time. This improves your operations by:

Top-ups

  • We offer two options for top-ups: 1GB and 2GBs.

  • Once your customer has chosen their preferred top-up under “My Plans”, it will take a few minutes to be available on the network, and will be accessible for the remainder of the subscription period.

🪫 Usage alerts

  • As your customers with fixed data plans approach their data limit, they will receive automatic email alerts, prompting them to purchase a monthly top-up or upgrade to a higher-tier plan.

  • These alerts will be triggered at 70%, 90%, and 100% of data consumption. Customers can easily view their data usage in Connect under “My Plans” at any time.

How to add data in Connect

There are three places to select Top-ups in Connect:

  1. Subscriptions overview screen (/subscriptions) if the user has ≥70% usage.

  2. Plan Change screen as the tab to the left (/plan-change)

Top-up Quick Actions

  • We provide quick actions so users can book a top-up as easily as possible without needing to browse.

  • Clicking on one of the buttons takes the user directly to the basket and they skip the list view where they can compare vouchers

  • Clicking anywhere else on the Add data card

Accessing Other Options

  • Clicking anywhere else on the card takes the user to the Add Data screen. Here there are two tabs: one for Top-ups and the other for Plan Changes.

    • If a subscription doesn’t have possible other plans, then there will not be tabs and the user will only see the lost of Top-ups

Adding a top-up from Dashboard

⚠️ Only for projects without payments

  1. Click the “Actions” button on the details page of a subscription

  2. Click the option to “Add a Top-up”

  3. Select a Top-up from the list in the slideover menu and click “Add Top-up”

  4. See that the Top-up has been successfully applied to the subscription in the Top-ups section of the subscription details page.
