How to refund a payment

Edited

What are refunds

A refund is returning funds from a successful purchase back to the original payment method of that purchase. A successful purchase is made when money moved from a bank or credit account to a business' bank account.

How much can a refund be for?

Note: Partial refunds are currently unavailable due to our recently introduced Taxes. We're currently working on a solution, and this page will be updated once one is found.

Refund amounts can range from $0.50 to the full payment amount.

Can a refund be issued more than once?

Yes, in cases where a partial refund has been applied to a payment, an additional refund may be offered. The number of partial refunds is not restricted, however, a refund can only be made up to the original purchase price paid.

How can I issue a refund?

Search for a payment in the Gigs dashboard. This can be done by using the Payments section on the left, or by going through a user's profile or subscription via the Ggis dashboard. Once the payment in question has been located:

  1. Select the three dots on the far right of the payment that needs to be refunded.

  2. Choose "Refund Payment" from the drop down.

  3. The refund box will show a text box with the default to refund the full amount.

    1. Edit the text box to set the amount for a partial refund.

Additionally, if you wish to cancel a subscription, the following options are available to provide:

  • No refund

  • Full refund

  • Partial refund

Important to note:

Once a refund has been issued, it can take up to 10 business days for the funds to get back to the user's bank account. This is entirely dependent on the user's bank and how quickly they process these things. While many refunds will show in a couple of days, please keep in mind that it could potentially take up to 10 business days. Again, this is entirely dependent on the bank, and isn't something Gigs is able to speed up
