I can't use roaming or connect internationally
Last updated: April 3, 2026
If your plan includes roaming but you're not able to connect when abroad, work through these steps.
Check roaming is enabled on your plan
Not all plans include international roaming. Open the app and check your plan details — roaming coverage will be listed if it's included. See Does my plan include roaming?
Enable roaming on your device
Even if roaming is included in your plan, it also needs to be turned on in your device settings:
iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Data Roaming → on
Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming → on
See How do I turn roaming on or off?
Check the country you're in
Coverage varies by destination. Some countries or regions may have limited or no roaming support on your plan. Check the coverage details in your plan information.
If roaming was working and has stopped
- Toggle airplane mode off and on to force the device to find a local network
- Manually select a network: Settings → Carrier → turn off automatic selection → choose an available network
- Restart your device
