How do I turn roaming on or off?

Last updated: April 3, 2026

Roaming is controlled through your device settings, not the app. Most devices have roaming off by default.

Confirm your plan includes roaming before enabling it. Turning roaming on when it's not part of your plan will not give you connectivity abroad.

iPhone

  • Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) → tap your plan or SIM
  • Turn on Data Roaming
  • Restart your phone to apply the change

Android

  • Settings → Network & internet → Mobile network → select your SIM if prompted
  • Enable Roaming or Data roaming
  • Restart your phone to apply the change

Menu labels vary by Android manufacturer. If you can't find the roaming setting, search roaming in your device's Settings search bar.

After enabling roaming

  • If you don't connect automatically within a few minutes, restart your device
  • To select a network manually: Settings → Cellular / Mobile network → Network selection → turn off Automatic → choose a network
