I've installed my travel eSIM, now what?

After you've gotten your travel eSIM successfully installed, your eSIM will automatically try and connect to the network once you have arrived to a covered geographical location.

The next steps will depend on a few things:

You are currently not traveling:

If you are not currently traveling, then it's likely that you will not be able to use your travel eSIM. This is dependent on the country you're currently in, along with the type of restrictions your travel eSIM has in place.

If you are unsure of the restrictions of your travel eSIM, please reach out to our Support team for clarification.

While you are not traveling, you will want to have your eSIM turned off. This is to ensure that your regular mobile service and SIM are not being interrupted or overridden by the eSIM. To turn off your eSIM, you will need to go into your device settings.

Please keep in mind that:

  • The location of device settings will vary by device, and this is to be used as a general guide.

  • The wording can be different based off of your language and location.

    • For example, in the US a setting may read "Cellular" while in the UK it reads as "Mobile Service".

If you are having trouble locating a specific setting, please contact support.

iOS:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to Cellular

  3. Then go to Cellular Plans

  4. Select the eSIM plan

  5. Turn it OFF

Do *not* delete the plan. If you delete the plan, you will need to get a new eSIM.

Android:

  1. Open your device's Settings

  2. Tap on 'Connections'

  3. Choose 'SIM card manager'

  4. Pick the eSIM plan you want to turn off

  5. Turn off the eSIM by toggling the switch

Do *not* remove the plan. Removing the plan will delete it and you will need to get a new eSIM.

You are currently traveling:

If you are currently traveling, please be sure that the country you're in is covered by your eSIM's plan details. If you're not sure what these are, please reach out!

While in a covered country, you will be able to use your travel eSIM and maintain connectivity. To ensure that your eSIM is working, you will want to:

  1. Turn off your primary line. This will allow the travel eSIM to be used for your mobile usage.

  2. Turn on data roaming for your travel eSIM.

If you are running into any issues, please be sure to perform the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Toggle airplane mode on then off

  2. Toggle roaming off then on

    1. Please note that roaming will need to be on for the eSIM to work

  3. Restart your device

Please note that it may be necessary to perform the above troubleshooting steps when entering a new country. If you find that you are experiencing issues with your service, it's always a good idea to perform these troubleshooting steps. Performing these steps will help with most connectivity issues you may encounter.
