What actions do I need to take before installing my eSIM plan?

Edited

Before installing your eSIM Plan, please ensure you’ve confirmed each of the following points:

  1. Your device is connected to stable WiFi.

  2. You have updated the software on your device to the most recent release.

  3. You have your IMEI number, which is the identifying number for your device. If you need help finding your IMEI, check out this article on where to find the IMEI for your device.

  4. You have verified that your device is compatible with eSIM. To do this, check out “Find out if your device is eSIM compatible” and “What devices are compatible with eSIM plans”.

  5. Your device must be carrier unlocked. You can find out if your device is carrier unlocked via your device settings. Your device must be carrier unlocked to use an eSIM plan.

    1. Reference the Carrier Lock description in your settings to determine your device status.

    2. “No SIM restrictions” means that your device is unlocked.

    3. If you don’t see that message, please contact your current carrier to find out how you can get your device unlocked.

If you accidentally deleted your eSIM, please reference this article for instructions on how to generate a new one.

eSIMs are single use and not transferrable. If you have deleted your eSIM from your device, you cannot re-download or re-install it. Instead, the SIM will need to be replaced.

If you are running into issues, even after going through the above list, you will want to reach out to your provider. This is not Gigs, but is the provider that you have your subscription with and who you signed up with.
