Question: How do I replace a SIM, or convert a sim (pSIM > eSIM or eSIM > pSIM)?

Answer: Now our customers can give their users any kind of SIM whenever they want, no matter whether via connect or dashboard. The new SIM replacements are available now, and allow swapping from eSIM or pSIM to both eSIM and pSIM (any direction).

Scope of functionality

  • Allows moving a subscription from one SIM to another

  • Supports all conversions (pSIM to pSIM, pSIM to eSIM, eSIM to pSIM, eSIM to eSIM)

Restrictions

  • SIMs can only be replaced with SIMs from the same provider

  • Only SIM types enabled for the user’s current plan can be selected.

How it works

Provider via the Gigs Dashboard:

  1. Members can replace a SIM by navigating to a subscription and selecting the “Replace SIM” action menu item.

  1. The SIM replacement will be active shortly after submitting it. The user needs to make sure to replace their SIM card.

  2. When selecting a new eSIM as the replacement, the member issuing the replacement is in charge of sharing the installation QR code with the user. Gigs will not send an email itself.

If you are not seeing the option of replacing the SIM within the Gigs Dashboard, please reach out to support to see if you can get this functionality added.

Subscriber / End-user via Connect:

  1. The user can replace a SIM themselves provided they have access to a replacement SIM if they intend to replace their current SIM with a pSIM.

  2. To do so, the user should:

    1. open Connect

    2. navigate to the subscription

    3. select the SIM they are intending to replace

    4. press the “Replace your SIM” button in the top right corner.

  1. The user will be asked to select what SIM type they would like (if there is a choice) and to confirm their wish to perform the replacement. The user will then be prompted to install their new SIM.

  2. If the user selected an eSIM replacement, we will automatically send the user a QR code to install their replacement eSIM.

If you are not seeing the option of replacing your SIM within Connect, please reach out to your provider. This is not Gigs, but will be the provider that you have your subscription with.
