Why is my signal weak or dropping?
Last updated: April 3, 2026
Signal strength depends on your location, the network your plan uses, and your device settings.
Step 1 — Check your location
Mobile networks have coverage gaps in rural areas, basements, underground spaces, and buildings with dense walls. Moving a few meters can make a significant difference.
Step 2 — Confirm your eSIM is active and set as the data line
iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data — confirm your eSIM plan is selected for mobile data
Android/Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager — confirm preferred SIM for data
Step 3 — Toggle airplane mode and restart
Step 4 — Check for a network outage
Check status.gigs.com for active incidents.
Step 5 — Check your network mode setting
iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Options → Voice & Data → set to 5G Auto or LTE
Android/Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network mode → set to Auto
If signal is consistently weak at your home or workplace, this is most likely a coverage limitation of the network your plan uses in that area. Switching to Wi-Fi for data-heavy tasks is the most reliable workaround.
