My device does not recognize SIM
Last updated: April 3, 2026
If your phone doesn't detect your SIM or eSIM — showing "No SIM", "Invalid SIM", or no signal — here's how to troubleshoot.
For physical SIMs
- Remove the SIM card and reinsert it firmly — make sure it's properly seated
- Check the SIM tray isn't bent or damaged
- Try the SIM in a different slot if your device has multiple
- Clean the SIM contacts gently with a dry cloth
- Restart the device after reinserting
For eSIMs
- Check Settings → Cellular (iPhone) or SIM card manager (Android) to confirm the eSIM profile is still installed
- If the profile is missing, your eSIM may have been deleted — see My eSIM was deleted — can I reinstall it?
- Toggle the eSIM line off and back on in settings, then restart the device
General steps for both
- Update your device software — carrier settings updates can fix SIM recognition issues
- Reset network settings (this won't delete data but will clear Wi-Fi passwords and VPN settings)
- Try the SIM in a different device to check if the issue is with the SIM or the device
If none of these work, contact support with your device model and ICCID.
