Guide: Usage Alerts

Customer guide to Usage Alerts

Updated over a week ago

Summary

As your customers with fixed data plans approach their data limit, they will receive automatic email alerts, prompting them to purchase a top-up or upgrade to a higher-tier plan.

Usage alerts are events that come from the Gigs' platform based on the amount of data used relative to a plan’s limits. These events currently fire when a subscription crosses the 70%, 90%, and 100% threshold of data in the plan.

Gigs will send emails to subscribers in projects that have support emails configured and who have not opted out of usage alert emails. This is configured in project settings in Dashboard.

Webhooks

If you would like to send emails or notifications yourself, you can setup webhooks in the Developer tab of Dashboard and subscribe to the event com.gigs.usageThreshold.exceeded.

  • Data usage alerts only.

  • Usage records can be delayed by more than 24 hours from the carrier.
