Guide: Plan Changes

How to: Change Plans (Customer)

Updated over a week ago

Summary

Gigs allows users to schedule a plan change in either direction (upgrade or downgrade), effective in the next renewal period. Here is how plan changes work:

  • If your customer wishes to upgrade their base plan to a higher data allowance, it’s just as easy as 1-and-done. They simply select their preferred plan in “My Plans,” and the change is scheduled for the next subscription period renewal.

  • Customers can view any scheduled changes in Connect and are free to cancel the change up to one hour before the renewal time.

  • A subscriber can navigate to Connect and upgrade (or downgrade) their plan at any time. The plan change will take effect on the next billing cycle.

  • Usage alerts:

    • As your customers with fixed data plans approach their data limit, they will receive automatic email alerts, prompting them to purchase a monthly top-up or upgrade to a higher-tier plan.

    • These alerts will be triggered at 70%, 90%, and 100% of data consumption. Customers can easily view their data usage in Connect under “My Plans” at any time.

How to process or cancel Plan Changes

  • Plan changes can be accomplished in Connect or Dashboard

  • It is possible to cancel the change until 1 hour before subscription renewal.

Limitations

  • A plan change can only occur between plans of the same validity (min period and subscription period)

  • All plan changes must be scheduled for the next renewal period

    • If the subscriber has run out of data, SMSs, or minutes, she can book a Top-up to bridge the gap until her plan change can be executed.

Good to know

  • While customers easily make plan changes themselves in Connect, you can of course also upgrade or downgrade your customers’ plans on their behalf from the Gigs Dashboard.

  • In the near future, we’ll also introduce hard caps on data, where data speeds will be throttled after your customer exceeds 100% of their data allowance, to incentivize them to upgrade their plans.
