My ring time is too short or too long

Last updated: April 3, 2026

Ring time is how long your phone rings before a call goes to voicemail or is considered unanswered. You can adjust this using call forwarding settings.

How ring time works

Ring time is controlled by a call forwarding rule — specifically the "forward when no answer" setting. The default is usually 20–30 seconds. Changing it requires updating this forwarding rule.

Adjust ring time using MMI codes

The most reliable way across all devices is using an MMI code dialled directly from your phone app.

To set ring time to X seconds (replace X with a value between 5 and 30, in multiples of 5):

61+voicemail_number11X#

If you do not know your voicemail number, contact support and we can provide it.

Example — set ring time to 25 seconds:

61+120255512341125#

Dial the code and press call. You should hear a confirmation tone or message.

iPhone settings

iPhone does not expose ring time directly in Settings. The MMI code method above works on iPhone as well.

Android / Samsung

Some Android devices show a ring duration option under:

Settings → Call settings → Call forwarding → Forward when unanswered → Ring duration

If this option is not visible, use the MMI code method.

Changes take effect immediately. Test by calling your number from another phone.
