How to install your eSIM — Android

Last updated: June 10, 2026

This guide covers Android devices excluding Samsung — see How to install your eSIM — Samsung for Samsung-specific steps. Before you begin: device has an EID number, device is carrier-unlocked, QR code or activation code is ready, connected to Wi-Fi.

Important: this eSIM profile installs on one device only. Once you complete installation here, the profile cannot be reinstalled on another device. If you change phones later, request a new profile through the app. See How do I transfer my eSIM to a new device?

Before you start: if you're connected to a VPN, turn it off before installing. An active VPN can block the install from completing. You can turn it back on once your eSIM is installed and connected.

Option 1 — QR code (recommended when you have a second device)

  • Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM (or Download a SIM instead)
  • Tap Scan QR code and point at the QR code on another device
  • Follow the on-screen steps

Option 2 — Manual activation code

  • Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Enter code manually
  • Paste your full activation code including LPA:1$
  • Tap Activate and follow the on-screen steps

Menu names vary across Android manufacturers. If you cannot find these options, search SIM or eSIM in your Settings search bar.

After installation

Set the eSIM as your primary data line: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → select your eSIM for mobile data.
