QR code vs manual activation — which should I use?
Last updated: April 3, 2026
Both methods do the same thing. The right choice depends on your situation.
Your situation | Use this method |
You have a second device to display the QR code on | QR code |
QR code email sent to a different device than the one you're installing on | QR code |
QR code email sent to the same device you're installing on | Manual activation code |
Camera won't scan the QR code | Manual activation code |
No access to a second device | Manual activation code |
How do I use the manual activation code?
Copy the full code from your email — it starts with LPA:1$ and is a long string. Paste it directly into your device's eSIM settings when prompted to enter a code manually. See the installation guide for your device.
Important
- A QR code can only be scanned once. If scanned on the wrong device a new code must be issued.
- Once either method has been used to download the profile, both the QR code and the manual code are no longer valid.
- If one method fails, always try the other before contacting support.
